If you gain excess weight after pregnancy, need not to be worried because it’s natural and healthy. The average weight gain during pregnancy is between 25 to 35 pounds. During the birth, some mothers discard about 12.5 to 14 pounds, leaving about 12 to 21 pounds of excess weight to be lost during the postpartum period by urinating and perspiring more frequently. Here are some techniques to help you lose post-pregnancy weight.
You should plan for it when you feel your strength is recurring and when your period has returned to normal. You can start following a weight loss diet and taking more vigorous exercise.
Drink a lot of water i.e. 10-12 glasses of water every day. It’s better to replace your high sugar beverages such as sodas and juices with some water. Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits as healthy weight loss food instead of fried and junk food. Always prefer brown grain, brown sugar and brown rice instead of white ones because brown products contain fewer calories. Eat boiled or grilled white meat like fish or chicken instead of beef steaks.
Breast feeding is the best way of weight loss after pregnancy because you consume 200to500 calories per day for breast feed. Breast feed stimulates the metabolism and regulates the hormonal system of the body.
The best time to start exercise is about 6 weeks after the birth. Exercise gives you more energy to strengthen your body. Brisk walking for 30 to 45 minutes is essential in order to regain your pre-pregnancy figure.
It will take time for your hips and pelvic area to shift back to their pre-pregnancy state so, don’t hurry to loose weight after pregnancy; just remember it took 9 months to gain the weight so you give yourself at least that long to trim down again.
