Break Fast

The old saying that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day is almost certainly true. Breakfast gets the metabolism going and research has revealed that those who eat breakfast burn more calories of energy each day. Even a good lunch won’t make up for skipping this significant meal.

Breakfast doesn’t have to be heavy. Keep the fat low as it is hard to digest and slows down the energy surge. Bacon and eggs is therefore suitable only as a treat. For everyday breakfast, stick with a cereal such as our home made muesli; add some fruit, toast or a low fat, high fiber muffin.

Almost everyone has time when it is impossible to sit down to a healthy morning meal. On such occasion, whiz ups a smoothie in the blender. It takes hardly any time and you ll’ more than make up for it later with extra energy.

Breakfast not only gets the metabolism ticking away, it can increase concentration in the late morning. This has been demonstrated in school children, but also applies to adult.
