Hormones play a major role in well functions of the body. If your hormones are balance, you can sleep well and have lots of energy, a strong sex drive, and well-functioning immune and digestive systems. It is necessary for a woman s’ body to produce all the hormones that a woman needs throughout her life.

Hormones are proteins or steroids that are secreted by glands and directly added into bloodstream and they regulate the metabolism of body, regulation of fluids, reproduction, sexual function, and reactions to strain and anxiety. Some glands such as the pituitary, hypothalamus, thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, adrenal glands, and ovaries, secrete hormones in women for proper functioning of the body.

The most common hormonal disorder among women is polycystic ovarian syndrome. Its common symptoms are

· Fatigue

· Weight gain

· Depression

· High cholesterol

· Irregular or absent periods

Irregular or absent periods is the main cause of rapid weight gain and it affects an estimated 7 percent of women. Healthy diet and exercise are often suggested for patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome because weight loss has been found helpful to cause an improvement, or even a decrease, of symptoms.
